Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a three-vehicle collision on State Road 60 in Indian River County this morning, which resulted in the death of one of the drivers.
According to the FHP report, a sedan driven by a 30-year-old man from Grant was traveling west on SR-60 near the 154th Avenue intersection this morning at approximately 6:13 am. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 33-year-old Okeechobee man was traveling east on SR-60. A third vehicle, a sedan driven by a 70-year-old Lake Wales man, was also traveling east on SR-60.
The driver of the first vehicle attempted to make a left turn from westbound State Road 60 onto 154th Avenue, but instead collided with the eastbound pickup. The third vehicle then struck the first vehicle after it came to rest in the eastbound lanes of SR-60.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries, according to the report.
The FHP did not release the names of the drivers, and the crash is still under investigation.
