From the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has again been made aware of individuals pretending to be members of the SCSO calling residents to tell them they have an urgent legal matter to discuss with them or they have an active warrant. The numbers have been “spoofed” to make them appear they’re coming from a legitimate source. If you receive a call like this HANG UP. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you to collect money. You can report these fraudulent phone calls by contacting our non-emergency line at 407-665-6650.
Some of the scariest scams involve criminals posing as police. Scammers will call and demand you pay a fine, or they’ll pretend to be an arresting officer seeking bail money for someone you love.
If you’ve received a phone call like this, don’t trust Caller I.D. Hang up and call our non-emergency line (407) 665-6650 to find out if the caller’s story is legitimate.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money over the phone. Be suspicious of anyone who demands immediate payment for any reason!
