From the Seminole County Newsroom

Seminole County Library’s Northwest Branch, located at 580 Greenway Boulevard in Lake Mary, will temporarily close for parking lot and bathroom renovations beginning Monday, January 11, 2021. The Northwest Branch, which has been operational since 1988, will close for approximately 90 days.

The parking lot will be completely renovated with a new design that will nearly double the available parking by adding 35 new spaces. The entrance/exit will be relocated to allow for better visibility and safety. The public restrooms will be completely gutted, with replacement of all fixtures, flooring and wall tiles and modernized. This will involve updated plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and electrical services requiring the building to be closed to the public while the utilities are shut off. The scheduled renovations total $479,592 in general funds, and are part of the County’s facilities improvement plans.

The Northwest Branch will be inaccessible as upgrades are made, meaning curbside pick-up and book drops will be unavailable. Curbside pick-up will be available at the other four branches; Northwest customers may call and arrange to retrieve materials at those locations. Materials originally checked out from the Northwest Branch may be returned to any of the other four branch book drops.

Library patrons may still access books and materials at http://seminolelibrary.org. Virtual programs will allow patrons to connect throughout the closure, as well; see the online Events Calendar for times and offerings for free Library programs on ZOOM.

Notifications regarding reopening will be provided via news release, website announcements and social media updates.
