Pop-up community COVID-19 test site today 9am – 5pm at Winter Springs Senior Center, appointments not necessary, more sites this month

Seminole County Office of Emergency Management has been under a Local State of Emergency (LSE) since March 2, 2020, and continues to monitor COVID-19. As of June 9, 2020 there are currently 561 confirmed cases in Seminole County, 553 of which are Seminole County residents and 456 confirmed cases have been completed; there have been 12 COVID-19 deaths in the County. POP-UP COMMUNITY TEST SITES

Seminole County will offer several Pop Up Community Test sites through the end of the month. Patients must bring identification, patients do not have to exhibit symptoms. Testing is free of charge regardless of insurance status; patients with insurance should bring insurance cards. Testing is available for ages 18+. Appointments are not necessary.

  • Wednesday, June 10, 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. at Winter Springs Senior Center
  • Saturday, June 20, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. at Lake Mary Elementary School
  • Wednesday, June 24, 10:00a.m.-2:00p.m. at Spring Lake Elementary (Altamonte Springs)

Free testing for uninsured and underinsured patients is also available at community clinics throughout the County; in some cases, curbside testing is available. Find a list of providers at PrepareSeminole.org.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10 – FRIDAY JUNE 12: HURRICANE SEASON LIVE CHAT ON PREPARING YOUR HOME

Seminole County Emergency Management launched the 2020 Virtual Hurricane Expo at PrepareSeminole.org. Historically, Emergency Management hosts an in-person Hurricane Expo, including preparedness and recovery exhibitor booths, attended by about 1,000 participants. The Expo has gone virtual this year to ensure social distancing, with videos and fact sheets providing valuable hurricane preparedness information.

In conjunction with the launch of the Virtual Hurricane Expo, Emergency Management staff will host a series of Facebook Lives, at 12:30 p.m. daily this week to provide tips to prepare for Hurricane Season. Each day, a hurricane preparedness or recovery topic will be presented, as staff welcome questions related to the topic noted:

  • Wednesday, June 10 – Protect Your Home: Insurance & Mitigation Strategies
  • Thursday, June 11 – Seniors and Populations with Special Medical Needs
  • Friday, June 12 – Shelters: Refuges of Last Resort

1, 216 PRE-APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FOR EMERGENCY SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS

The pre-application process for Seminole County Government’s Emergency Small Business Grant Program closed June 5.

  • 1,216 total pre-applications were received
  • 121 pre-applications were duplicates
  • 488 pre-applications were ineligible based on criteria
  • 607 total businesses pre-qualified for the Grant

Eligible businesses were notified via email with application next steps. The deadline for completed applications, including supporting documents, is Friday, June 19 at 12:00p.m. Applicants will be notified of grant approval status via email by Monday, July 6 and funds are estimated to be available by mid-July.
